We’re now hiring an Animal Caretaker to join our passionate, friendly team on our beautiful 65-acre farm!

ABOUT Stable Harvest Farm

Stable Harvest Farm is a non-profit organization that has donated over 500,000 lbs of fresh produce to local communities since 2020. We also provide free on-site educational tours , welcoming thousands of children, families, and school groups to learn where food comes from and why environmental stewardship matters.

Up until 2025, our animal program included Nigerian dwarf goats and heritage chickens. Due to their success, we have now added miniature pigs, sheep, alpacas, mini horses and mini donkeys to enhance the educational experience for visitors.

About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated Animal Caretaker who is passionate about animal welfare and enjoys working outdoors in a farm setting. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with farm animals and understands the daily needs of multiple species—from feeding and health checks to maintaining clean, safe living environments.

This role also supports our educational programming, so you should feel comfortable engaging with students and visitors and sharing your knowledge of the animals and farm life.

How You’ll Help Grow Our Mission

  • Care for and manage farm animals such as cats, chickens, goats, pigs, sheep, alpaca, mini horses, and mini donkeys.
  • Ensure all animals are well-fed, comfortable, and healthy
  • Assist with daily feeding routines, health checks, and general animal care
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized living environments
  • Support educational tours by engaging with students and explaining animal care
  • Work collaboratively with the farm team
  • Ability to train other farm staff on animal care.

Qualification

  • Previous experience in farm animal care or working on an animal farm (preferred)
  • Ability to safely handle and care for a variety of animals
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and comfort working with students and visitors
  • Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Eligible to work in Canada and complete a criminal record check to work with children

Position details

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Weekend work required as part of the regular schedule.

Start Date: Spring 2026

Compensation: $21.50 per hour
