A new addition to our educational area is taking shape for next season. Our Native Garden will be home to plants that are native to British Columbia, giving students a chance to see local species up close and learn why they matter.
Designed by our Bee lady, Kristen, the garden has recently moved seedlings into their permanent beds, including:
- Woodland strawberry
- Sala
- Redwood Sorrel
- Dull Oregon Grape
- Maidenhair Fern
- Sword Fern
- Nodding Onion
- Yarrow
- Common Camas
- Big Leaf lupine
- Pearly Everlasting
- Douglas Aster
- Goldenrod Coastal
These plants expand habitat for bees and butterflies and strengthen our outdoor classroom for pollinator learning. As the garden fills in, visitors will be able to explore the space, notice which insects each plant attracts, and see how native plants support a healthy ecosystem. Come back in the spring to see how the Native Garden has grown and what is in bloom.
